The cost of stealing and masking is just not worth it when the license is so cheap. Again, once you get out of the college "hacker" mindset it becomes pretty clear that just isn't worth doing for the majority of studios. What is the risk? Some nefarious studio might steal the engine and tweak it or take bits of it. And there are plenty of tutorials and communities out there that can help you and plenty of potential employees who are already familiar with your exact development suite. That means there is only a time investment and not a monetary one (outside of time = money).
